INDIA: Taapsee Pannu star Dobaaraa debuted in Indian theaters on Friday, August 19, 2022. The mystery drama film had a slow start at the box office. According to reports, Dobaaraa had low occupancy on the first day.

Anurag Kashyap’s mystery drama film Dobaaraa is a remake of the 2018 Spanish film Mirage. Taapsee Pannu stars as the lead role, while Pavail Gulati, Nassar, Rahul Bhatt, Saswata Chatterjee, Himanshu Choudhry, Madhurima Roya, and Nidhi Singh form the film’s cast.

Ekta Kapoor and Pen Marudhar Entertainment produced and distributed the film. Sylvester Fonseca provided cinematography for the mystery drama feature. Aarti Bajaj edited the film, and Gaurav Chatterji and Shor Police provided music for Taapsee Pannu’s starring film.

Trade analysts revealed Dobaaraa’s box office collection

Dobaaraa premiered at the 2022 London Indian Film Festival on June 23, and it opened on Friday. The film received decent reviews from critics but failed to engage audiences. The mystery drama film’s first-day box office numbers are finally in.

Indian critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh ​​revealed the box office figures on his Twitter account. The tweet read, “#DoBaaraa opens to better numbers than expected… In fact much better than #Taapsee’s previous film #ShabaashMithu… Picked up at select premium multiplexes towards evening/night shows… Fri ₹ 72 lacs [370 screens]. #India business. According to box office stats, on the first day of its release, Dobaaraa earned ₹72 lakhs at the box office.

Given the box office numbers, the film faces a tough road in the coming weekends. Next week also sees the release of Liger, a sports action film starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday, which could impact Dobaaraa’s box office collection.

Film trade analyst and critic Sumit Kadel also posted the film’s occupation update on his Twitter account on Friday. The tweet read, “#Dobaaraa is off to a DISASTROUS start to the box office, the film only sees a 2-3% occupancy rate while many early shows are canceled due to no audience.”

According to reports, Dobaaraa opened with 2-3% occupancy on the first day. The mystery drama film currently has an IMDB rating of 3.1/10.
